White printing has expanded digital inkjet printing in many areas of application. Printing in white looks classy and stylish.
Thanks to white printing, convincing print results can be achieved and applications can be significantly optimized, especially on transparent print media.
White printing is available on many UV inkjet printers and also on HP Latex R series and HP Latex 700/800 machines.
Print modes: How is white printing used?
white underprint
(white + cmyk), underflood (UF), front side printing
White printing before/under the actual color application (cmyk), used on print media whose original color is not white. Ensures optimal luminosity of the colors on black, dark or natural-colored surfaces. Partial white print for special effects.
White barrier printing (cmyk + white + cmyk), sandwich printing
Intermediate layer when printing different motifs on both sides of a transparent print medium. Advertising graphics with text can thus be read from both sides.
Also possible as a white intermediate print: Printing of two color applications on top of each other plus white as an intermediate layer. For the best printing results in transmitted light applications, backlit or use with background lighting. White acts as a diffuser here and optimizes light scattering.
White can not only be used as a full color – when used as a spot color, numerous creative design options open up. Details can be specifically emphasized while the background shines through elsewhere. This type of white use (form printing) requires special preparation of the print data.
