About Kavalan/TAYA Group
The TAYA Group, founded in 1989, manufactures innovative composite textiles in 11 production lines on 70,000 square meters. With over 110 looms, great environmental awareness and the Kavalan brand, TAYA has set out to revolutionize the field of digital print media. TAYA's R&D team started developing the first generation of PVC-free print media back in 2008. As a result, the Kavalan brand was established in order to expand a completely environmentally friendly product range. The first PVC-free banner material range in widths of up to 5 meters deserves a special mention. Rapid availability of the media and stable supply chains continue to characterize our partner Kavalan.
Certified PVC-FREE BANNERMEDEIN
All current KAVALAN products have been able to position themselves clearly ahead of PVC print media in LCA studies.
In the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) process, products are analyzed in terms of their consumption of energy and resources. This life cycle assessment considers the environmental impact in its entirety. It involves many factors, for example: Which raw materials are used in production and where do they come from? How is production carried out (energy consumption, production processes, production facilities)? How are the goods transported?
LCA Life Cycle Assessment
On behalf of Taya, the renowned inspection and validation service SGS (formerly Societe Generale de Surveillance) created life cycle assessments for the latest KAVALAN product range. The life cycle assessments confirm what we already knew - the environmental friendliness of KAVALAN is far superior to that of PVC banners. And we have the numbers to prove it!
The LCA process is part of the ISO 14000 series of internationally recognized environmental management standards. It analyzes the environmental impact of a product from cradle to grave and combines historical data, test results and scientific measurements to provide analyzes for various environmental impacts such as climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss, algae growth and water consumption among others.
The life cycle assessment is excellent for direct environmental comparisons between products and allows customers to make purchasing decisions based not only on cost but also on environmental impact. In the life cycle assessment, the three life phases of a product are considered:
Upstream Activities
Extraction of raw materials, production and packaging
core activities
Transport, energy and water consumption and production
Downstream Activities
End-of-life activities Waste management and disposal
All these processes have an impact on the environment, and the numerical assessment through LCA shows that we can no longer hide behind subjective assumptions or so-called professional opinions; the numbers don't lie!
